when I was a kid
I spent a lot of time
playing in the woods
around my house
climbing rocks
as a teen
I walked many hours
with headphones
filling my chest with feelings
when I left for school
my house became
my parents' house
there was a lot of new houses
built in my woods
I never walked them again
I couldn't bear it
overwriting those places
I held those memories
fragile, precious
looking back
from a distance
this is how I became
an indoor person
