in my experience this is what prayers asking/thanking for stuff is for

not so that God will send us gifts but to allow us to accept the gifts they are giving us every moment

it is to help us say yes

we say no for good reason: because we are not ready to the last question, not ready to say yes

but everyone gets to yes
in the end
